LEARNING TO FLY!
ARM BALANCES FOR BEGINNERS
HALF DAY YOGA WORKSHOP
GUEST TUTOR:
Irina Billingham
A Half Day Yoga workshop to learn the techniques and principles for Arm Balance postures.
The aim is that you will be able to achieve at least one Arm Balance by the end of the Workshop!
SUNDAY 14th MAY 2017
12.00-3.00pm
Alrewas Village Hall, Staffordshire
Arm Balances can be daunting.
They look impressive, but if you’ve ever tried to take off into one, you’ll know that they don’t come easy. Arm balances need a combination of strength, technique, focus, flexibility and confidence.
In this 3-hour workshop, our Guest Tutor Irina Billingham will be guiding us through some preparatory asana and bandha practices to develop heat and strength in the body, and to engage the core muscles needed for ‘taking flight’.
She will be breaking down 3 specific arm balance poses:- CROW (bakasana), 8 ANGLE (astavakrasana) and MINI-DRAGONFLY (parsva bhuja dandasana).
This workshop is suitable for experienced Yogis who want to learn how to perform arm balances. Maybe you’ve tried before and not succeeded. Maybe you’ve seen images and wondered how on earth to get into specific arm balance poses. Maybe you’re curious and want to have a go……
This workshop isn’t suitable for yoga beginners, or anyone with shoulder, neck, wrist or back issues.
We are limiting the numbers of this workshop to 15, to enable each attendee to have some personal attention if needed.
This means that the cost is slightly higher than our usual 3 hour events, but I hope you will agree that there is additional value in this specialist workshop.
