Mother and Baby Massage and

          Yoga Courses

Divine Works run 10 week programmes combining Baby Masssage and Baby Yoga.  Baby Massage is the perfect introduction to any activity with your newborn baby.  The sense of touch is the most active sense at this stage, and your baby will enjoy the feeling of being massaged, combined with the closeness of their parent.  It is suitable to start these classes once your baby is around 8 weeks old.

Baby Yoga is a more dynamic activity, which your baby will enjoy as a follow on to the massage course.  The moves and swings help your baby as they begin to develop and understand about themselves.  It is suitable to begin baby yoga from around 12 weeks old.  Once your baby is crawling, you may find they are not interested in Massage or Yoga classes, as they will want to explore their own world in their own way.  However, you will know your baby's personality, and some crawlers have been very happy to be massaged!  For more details of the Course, see below.

Baby Massage

Baby Massage is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your newborn  baby, to have fun and nurture the loving bond between you.  Relaxing and soothing for both baby and mum, baby massage can also be helpful in relieving colic, wind, crying, teething, sleeplessness, fractiousness and Post-Natal depression.  During the 4 week Course, you will learn a full massage routine in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Comprehensive notes are given, and oils will be provided, along with information and advice on how to continue massaging at home.  Many babies at this young age will sleep, feed or cry during the session.  This is absolutely normal, and many Mums still find the course valuable to enable them to learn techniques here and then use them at home when it is more convenient for their baby.

 Baby Yoga

The Mother and Baby Yoga Course is a 6 week programme designed for You and your new Baby, to share some quality time together and connect with other new Mums.  It follows on from the 6 week Baby Massage programme.  The course integrates specific activities for your Baby with Post-Natal Yoga exercises for the new Mum.

Baby Yoga  is a fun exercise session both for Parent and Baby, consisting of gentle movements and stretches, lifts, holds and swings.  It offers the baby physical and mental development and stimulation, through the combination of touching, handling and stroking, bringing about a powerful multisensory experience.

As a new Parent, you will learn to increase your confidence in actively handling and holding your baby.  The Yoga movements enhance the development of your Baby’s nervous system, whilst strengthening their muscles and spine.   It can help soothe an anxious baby, relieve colic and improve sleep patterns. In a 20 minutes session, your Baby will receive as much physical  activity as they would normally in a full day.  This extra activity often leads to babies sleeping for longer and more deeply after a Yoga session.

Post-Natal Yoga is a gentle way to tone and energise the body after pregnancy and labour.  Strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, stretching the body and releasing tension help to improve both your posture and general well-being.  Breathing exercises are taught to calm the mind and soothe the nervous system, and relaxation techniques will provide a valuable tool for relieving stress, and offer some much needed recuperation time to restore our energy levels and ward off any fatigue.

No experience of Yoga is necessary to attend the course.  The sessions are gentle and are specifically designed for post-natal exercise, and the Yoga novice.
