WINTER SOLSTICE CEREMONY &
CANDLELIT YOGA EVENING
Sunday 20th December, 2020
** ONLINE EVENT **
This beautiful, atmospheric, seasonal workshop is always the most popular on the calendar. We start at dusk, and watch the light slowly disappear until we are illuminated only by the glow of the candles. The evening will begin with some sumptuously slow yoga, deeply connecting to our breath and body, interwoven with some meditative Yin Yoga and soft chanting.
Our Solstice Ceremony will follow, where we honour the passing year, and welcome in the coming year. Our focus for 2021 will be bringing in new healing energy, on a personal and global level. Quiet reflection and meditation comes next, with some optional soft chanting. And finally, we end the evening with a deep, nurturing relaxation backed by a live performance of soft, nurturing mantras. Lie back and enjoy!
Due to the COVID restrictions, this is an ONLINE only event. Sit back and enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
Winter Solstice: A time of new beginnings, rebirth, starting afresh.
Winter Solstice 2020
2020 has been, without doubt, the most challenging time of our lives. The unprecedented difficulties that we have all faced have taken their toll on our bodies, minds, and spirits. Winter solstice is the perfect opportunity to say farewell to 2020 and bring in fresh, new energy with a renewed focus on health and connectivity.
We will use our time together to symbolically move out of the physical darkness of winter, and the psychological darkness of a world in crisis. Using the light of our candles as a methaphor, we will burst forth with renewed vigour for 2021, with light in our hearts and love in our souls.
Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere takes place on Monday 21st December at 10.02am. This is the point when the sun is at its most southerly position. On this day, the sun rises later and sets earlier than any other day of the year. It hangs low and weak in the sky during the brief daylight hours, barely rising above the treeline. Daytime shadows are at their longest.
This is the time of the shortest day, and the longest night of the year. A time for resting. For renewing. For retreating. A time for celebration also, welcoming the return of the light as the sun makes it’s way back northwards and we start the journey back towards summer.
Crisis at Christmas Charity
This year I will be donating 15% of the proceeds from this event (and rounding it up) to the charity Crisis at Christmas.
This charity brings food, shelter, companionship, training and above all, hope, to those who need it most.
Solstice Ceremony 2020
You will be invited to decorate your own space with fairy lights, decorations, candles and anything else that creates a beautiful atmosphere.
For the ceremony, you might like to bring along something that represents a symbol of hope.
Despite the isolation of our circumstances, will will endeavour to create connection with each other. The last 15 minutes of the session will be for mince pies, mulled wine/tea and an engaging collective conversation and catch up.
